An analysis by the National Association of College and University Business Officers found that the enrollment management strategy of tuition discounting at private institutions continued to increase in 2018-2019, reaching an average rate of 52%. Marjorie Valbrun of Inside Higher Education writes that although this may come as good news to prospective students, there is a trade-off for institutions. From Inside Higher Education: "Even as discount rates are rising quickly, net tuition revenue, the money colleges receive to support their operations, is declining or stagnant."
