Democrats' Bill to Reauthorize Higher Education Act Will Go to House Committee

Last week, Democrats in the House of Representatives released a proposed bill for reauthorizing the Higher Education Act. The bill, called the College Affordability Act, will be sent to the House Education & Labor Committee next week, Community College Daily reports.

From Community College Daily: "At the pending markup, Republicans are expected to offer a slew of amendments to the bill, just as Democrats did when they were in the minority... The reauthorization legislation may be brought to the House floor before year’s end, though that is not a sure thing given the legislation’s complexity and the fact that debate about federal funding and other issues may vie for the House’s attention."
